Description: Product Description
After being shuttled between foster homes and institutions for most of his life, fifteen-year-old Floyd Rayfield escapes from a mental institution to a Sioux reservation, desperately seeking a family and a home.

Amazon.com Review
Shuffled from one foster home to another--and from one institution to the next--for most of his life, Floyd Rayfield is darn tired of traveling without a real destination. Floyd firmly believes that he will find his real home if he becomes a Sioux Indian. Determination, faith, and a lot of crazy luck help Floyd make the journey to the Sioux reservation and embark on the sort of vision quest on which only Native Americans are allowed. This is a touching, deeply-layered exploration of identity and belonging. Warriors come from the strangest places . . .

Reviews: Stephen (USA: MD) (2012/12/10):
A 15 year old young man who's been involved in the foster care system his entire life has become convinced that his destiny is to become a Dakota Indian. He leaves his current unsatisfactory group home situation and rides across country on a stolen motorcycle to a Dakota Indian reservation where he can become who he truly believes he was destined to be.

There he's met by wise understanding people who give him one thing he's not truly had in a long time. Someone to listen to him. It's decided that a traditional vision quest will help him discover where his future really lies.

This is a great book for young male readers and those that feel misunderstood. It's told from the 15 year old's point of view and is a wholesome honest, life affirming tale. Well worth the time to read.
