WelshHelen (United Kingdom) (2010/04/09): I'm sorry to say that I was pretty disappointed in this and I was looking forward to reading it after reading Kaewert's first Plumtree book. I'm as happy to suspend disbelief as the next person but a modicum of reality would have been appreciated. Alex not only gets shot once but twice, then gets locked into a room for 14 hours but a few hours later he's up and about, pretty much as though nothing had happened. The whole "if only I'd known what was going to happen next" 'warnings' irritated me and, not content with what was a pretty good storyline of book-thefts and forgery, Kaewert had to trowel on the ridiculousness with a Bruce Willis-like film star and Alex saving the lives of some "VIPs". The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the fact that you can't drive down Tottenham Court Road towards Oxford Street, it's one way in the other direction - shouldn't an author's research stretch to things like that, especially if she's American? I suppose I'm nit-picking now but it just added to my irritation with the book. Let's hope that the next book in the series is better! I can only award this one 5 out of 10 and that's being generous!
