This is a story about a young boy named Ged, who grows from a reckless, awkward boy to become the greatest sorcerer in all Earthsea.

The first part of the story concerns his education (Where I can see where some of the ideas from Harry Potter came from). Ged goes to the isle of Roke to attend the school there and finds he's not only the best pupil. He be becomes arrogrant and is drawn to showing off, which leads to him one day calling up the dead. The creature scars Ged and kills the school's Archmage who uses his power to try and undo what Ged has done. After the incident, Ged also loses most of his power (important clue to the ending).

Ged must now pursue this creature while fighting dragons, evil stones, and gibbeths, people the creature have entered and destroyed.

In the end he discovers what the creature truly is. And thats the big surprise ending!
