Cherith (USA: KS) (2006/08/09): I hadn't yet finished Incubus Dreams before reading "Micah", but I don't think I missed much. It's a very, very short novelette that takes place after ID. It's supposed to be a small story about Micah & Anita being somewhere alone. I'd hoped (as I think most people did) that we'd get a background on Micah...family, friends, hometown...and we get some but not all of that. I think from a character perspective, it was nice not to have to keep track of so many people. There wasn't sex every few minutes, and there was a fairly simple plot line. Naming the story, Micah I think was a little over-the-top.It was a really easy read, very quick, very too the point. However, I'm pretty disappointed in the 245 widely margined pages with broadly spaced text. I read roughly (in a normal book) about eighty pages on my lunch break. This book novelette took me two lunch breaks. Telling me that there's really less story there, than the size gives credit for. I think, that it should've been expanded. LKH had more of a story there, she just didn't get into it, which is sad. Hopefully, if she ever does anything else like this (like for Richard, as she's eluded to) she'll make them longer, and expand on story lines a bit more. Hell, I think we already have more of Richard's story, from earlier books, like Blue Moon. *shrugs*
