While I have enjoyed other Michael Connelly books, this one did not hold my attention. Detective Bosch has been placed on leave after hitting a superior and must have psychological counseling (influence of The Sopranos?). It is all quite trivial, and Bosch decides to search for the murderer of is mother. There is very little suspense. The romantic interest (a realtor from Florida) hardly becomes a character. Bosch is brooding and depressed most of the time... more rude than usual. I found myself skipping a lot of pages and did not even finish the book. Not recommended... unless you want to have a full picture of Bosch's life.

I really liked this book - could hardly put it down.
Harry investigates his mother's murder. In doing so,
he cuts lots of corners and you keep wondering just
how much trouble he is going to get into.
