He's one of the players in the game of Starweb. No one knows his real name. But Alex Barrow, and eventually several others, begin to suspect that he is doing far more than virtual slaughter among the dreamscapes of the game.

People young and old had paid their fees and taken roles in the Starweb cast of characters. Some triumphed; some were "killed" and removed from the action.

Then some of them began to die - - murdered! - - in real life!
