An interesting addition is a Djin and the explanation of how Djinger had hit onto the bottle idea. Like Aahz's mother, it is one of a number of introductions bound to reappear in later books.
In keeping with Asprin's own personal changes, Skeeve ponders the nature of friendship a lot, and who he himself is.
