I'm not sure what other reviewers have seen in this book, but I found it poorly written, utterly unimpressive and Charlaine's prose a little ... odd. (Perhaps a too-charitable word for dialogue like ... "I don't have enough experience with the different characteristics of the many strains of Asians to tell you where he came from originally." Like, wow. Strains of viruses, sure. But Asians?)

It was amusing, while I was living in Dallas, I read this series. Personally I always thought Dallas was a city full of the living dead, and that Vampires must have felt outnumbered.

I found the first two books in this series only mildly entertaining...I had to get into books 3 and 4 before I found myself actually becoming addicted and really caring about what happens to the characters (I think its because I don't like Bill). So just FYI-if you enjoy this enough to keep going, I think you'll find the rest of the series worth the time.

I thought that this book was well wrote, and you can get lost in the world charlaine creates because she develops her characters so well. The book doesnt have loop holes like you can find a lot of time in other books, and i have a feeling that the books will get ever better throughout the series.
