The Giver is one in a million! An astounding book provoking thought when NOT reading. It's full of wonder, mystery, and joy. I would recommend it to ANYONE. A classic for sure.

I have read this book twice, once on my own and once with my kids, and that is a rare thing for me. Given the amount of times this book has been challenged, I was shocked to find it came out in 1993. It is a great book for today, and is a bit prognostic of our world. It makes you think, it makes you question, and it makes you understand; all ideal qualities in a book. Lowry creates a futuristic community complete with rules and history and never breaks from them. She is an amazing writer.

Awesome book. Read it as a child, read it as an adult. Quick/easy enough to read in one sitting. So deep yet so simple, odd and unique.

This book was wonderful. I would recommend this to children and adults alike. There was peace with in me as I read this book and understood the confusiohn the children felt along with the discretion the parents needed to extend to the little ones.

This is a wonderful book that definitely makes you think. If you love dystopian futures (like Hunger Games, Divergent, The Testing... etc) you will love this book. While the movie was a great reflection of the book - the book gives you so much more detail and your imagination will run wild with it! Lois Lowry is a wonderful author and all of her books are great, but this is the best!
