Product Description
Dr Doctor Who And The Auton Invasion Novelization by Terrance Dicks. Released by Target books paperbacks in 1974, this is the 1984 reprint edition, that is based on the television serial Doctor Who Spearhead From Space starring Jon Pertwee as Dr Who. In this, the first adventure of his third incarnation, Doctor Who, Liz Shaw and the Brigadier grapple with the nightmarish invasion of the Autons. Living, giant-sized, plastic-modelled 'humans' with no hair and sightless eyes, they are waxwork replicas and tailors' dummies whose murderous behaviour is directed by the Nestene Consciousness - a malignant, squid-like monster of cosmic proportions and indescribably hideous appearance. Very Good condition 31 year old book, with only minor shelf wear on the edges of the cover, but does have a name wrote inside the front cover. All orders received before 4.00pm Monday to Fridays are shipped the same day

Leela4 (USA: OR) (2009/04/05): The third Doctor's first story ('Spearhead From Space'). One of the better novelisations, although there are two glaring bits the editor missed and a number of stray commas. Remarkably true to the broadcast even with its simplified characterisation; the author added one early scene and also made some tweaks that probably do add to atmosphere but are jarring if you then see the episode (e.g. the description of Channing, the incident between Forbes and the Auton is different...). Some nice added material at the climax to fill in the gaps and add to the tension--all good choices. I believe all trivia is in the book, so for research purposes one would only need the episode for visual characterisation (especially of the Doctor).
