Cynthia Welsh (USA: AZ) (2010/08/07): This is a good book for the beginning of a series. A reader would be disappointed if they only intended to read just this book. The characters are well developed. I was left with numerous questions at the end of the book about how Olivia, the main character, would proceed with her life. I thought we should sit down for a cup of coffee and have a talk about the available choices for future romance for her. She should focus on that police chief! Olivia's black standard poodle, Haviland, provides the comic relief to Olivia's restrained emotions. For readers who are also writers, or want to be writers, the discussions of the craft of writing are well interwoven in the book. The author's website is: elleryadamsmysteries.com. The website has nice pictures of the North Carolina coast and cute pictures of a black poodle. I have read other books by this author when she writes as J.B. Stanley. They were a series about antique collecting.
