"Story of a Soul" belongs on the "required reading" list for all Catholics--which is not to say it is only for Catholics--it is for everybody. It is both one of the greatest and most profound, and also most readable and likeable spiritual books ever written. This (the Beevers translation) is not the best English translation available however--if you want to encounter Therese's masterpiece in the most clear, complete, authentic and contemporary way then it is well worth it to order a copy of the translation by Discalced Carmelite friar John Clarke, published by ICS Publications. Still, in any translation this book is a good mooch for someone who wants to grow spiritually, in humility, faith, and confidence in God's love.
