This book was written in 1998. I had my last child, in that year, he is 23 now. So 23 years ago we didnt not have cell phones, people faxed things, had answering machines, and a few had car phones. The main character, Madeline Bean, is smart, and likeable. She isnt TSTL, I was sucked into the story right away. Madeline Bean, Wesley Westcot and Holly something, are all the lead caterers at a A list HOLLYWOOD Halloween Party. The descriptions of the decorations, and costumes, and food were so vivid and top knotch. The Victim, wasnt kiled right away so we had time to get to know the suspects. I wasnt sure til the end who was the killer, just not enough clues. The local police suspected Wesley Wescott for many reasons. A few twists and turns in the lives of the remaing family members, who were suspects. This book can stand the test of time, as the lack of technology doesnt substract from the story. The only thing I found annoying was the naming character. Manny Martinez, Wesley Wescot, Donnie Don, stuff like that. AND why is poisoning always the weapon in a 1st book in the series. I gather mainly to throw a wrench in the MC, culinary business.
