Impressive, considering this is the debut novel of a young author. Taking the story as it is, the plot, while imaginative and written in a complex perspective, essentially boils down to your basic fantasy elements and does not do anything new with them. In the end, "The Eyes of a King" was a solid story that turned out to be disappointingly average.
