Reviews: skar (USA: DC) (2007/10/15):
Excellent read!

Carly (USA: NV) (2007/11/27):
Interesting story, but the writing isn't very good and the characters aren't believable. It's nice, though, reading a book that is bold enough to have 3 main despicable characters.

Tia (USA: CO) (2008/01/23):
I really enjoyed this book, and was a few chapters into it before I realized I'd seen the movie (years ago). Now I want to see the movie again . . .

The characters were very believable, and I didn't know who I was rooting for throughout the story, as my favorites changed.

Maxx Lobo (USA: CA) (2008/10/01):
I had read other reviews for this book, and when I mentioned it to my girlfriend, she pointed out that there had been a movie. I tend to be find that the books are better, so I went ahead and mooched it - and boy, was I glad I did!

This was a real page-turner, and I read it all in one sitting (on a flight back from the mid-west). To say I couldn't tell what was going to happen next is an understatement - the character development is excellent, and the emotions playing on each individual justifies the actions they take. The book is definitely dark and filled with the sadness of lost opportunities and evidence of human frailty. It doesn't stretch the spectrum of the believable, and for that I can say that I enjoyed every moment of it.

I highly recommend this book!

flutelaura (USA: KY) (2009/11/29):
If you want a book that is inspirational, this is NOT for you! The ending was the most negative and depressing finale I have ever encountered. Why Oprah put this novel full of misery, despair and mahem on her book club list, I'll never know. I regret reading it.

Pearl Lampere (USA: CA) (2014/06/02):
What a stupid waste of time! Read it if you like, but it is sorry!

Jenny S. (USA: IL) (2018/05/01):
Amazing book. It was pretty crazy but enjoyable, and hard to put down. I was sorry when it was over in so many ways.
