The topic it deals with could be heavy for some (post-WWII Germany) but I loved the suspense and the court-like second part of the book. It's about a young man who is an older woman's lover, and he slowly discovers a dark secret about her, years after her sudden disappearance from his life. Neiser (USA: TX) (2009/04/07): This book takes place pre and post World War II. A young man experiences an affair with an older woman and this colors his entire life. The story looks at the pain of dealing with the evil deeds of someone we cared about, and wondering how this ever happened. It was not a "happy book" but well written and definitely made you dwell on the content.
