This is an interracial romance between a light-skinned black woman and a white man. I enjoyed how subplots around their work were integrated into story in a way that gave the story a little more depth. I loved the way the main character's experience with a light skin color was acknowledged and talked about. (for example, sometimes strangers didn't realize they were an interracial couple). It was interesting and unusual. I liked the secondary characters, but their introductions often seemed perfunctory, as though you should already know them from previous books in the series...or as though they were just being set up for a leading role in some future book. I also thought the sex scenes, though plentiful, were too short and lacked enough foreplay. Still, the writing was better than many of the other interracial romances I've read.
