Reviews: Marianne (Australia) (2012/06/06):
Charmed is the third of the Donovan Legacy series by Nora Roberts. Anastasia Donovan is one of three cousins born to triplets married to triplets: the Donovan brothers married the Corrigan sisters. Anastasia is a witch whose gift is empathy and healing. When widower and fairy-tale author, Boone Sawyer moved with his six-year-old daughter, Jessie into the house next door to Anastasia, he was at first suspicious of this serenely feminine woman. Before long, however, he was in love. Anastasia was afraid to accept Boone’s love, as hat would mean telling him what she really was, and she still felt sorely the effects of rejection by the last man she loved. Once again, romance with a supernatural twist, something Roberts does well. Some laughs, some heartache and an exciting climax. The characters have some depth, and couples from the previous two novels in the series play a large part. An enjoyable read.
Enchanted is the fourth of the Donovan Legacy series by Nora Roberts. Liam Donovan is a cousin of Morgana, Sebastian and Anastasia of the Donovan Legacy series. Liam is also a witch, and a shape-shifter, his most usual alternate form being a large black wolf. Rowan Murray comes to Liam’s patch of the Oregon coast in search of herself. She has left her teaching job in San Francisco, her fiancé Alan and her parents, to spend time in a cabin in the woods, relaxing, listening to music, sketching. Before long, she has made friends with a big black wolf and a gorgeous man named Liam. And fallen in love with them both. By the time Liam reveals some of the truth to her, she has made up her mind, against advice from Alan and her parents, not to go back to her former life, but to sketch for Liam’s computer games. It seems Liam has some decisions about his own life to make, but he has the benefit of advance knowledge and his behaviour appears calculating, when Rowan finally has all revealed to her. While the plot was interesting, the romance scenes were tedious and repetitive. Liam comes across as rather arrogant but at least Rowan is a feisty character and it’s nice to see she eventually has him on his knees. The Donovan cousins from the first three in the series make a brief appearance, together with their offspring. This Nora Roberts romance is not as satisfying as some.
