Marianne (Australia) (2013/02/15): Melt a Frozen Heart is the third novel by Lindsay Armstrong. Glamorgan Jones and Steve Harrow have a history: she was an infatuated student of his when he rescued her from a potential rape situation and took her home to her unsympathetic father. When Steve reenters her life and hires her for secretarial work, she is determined not to succumb to him. These characters have nothing to recommend them: Morgan spends her time agonising over an embarrassing moment, overthinking everything as Armstrong’s female leads tend to do; Steve is imperious and what he does to Morgan would these days be classed as sexual assault. If this was the first Armstrong romance I had read, I wouldn’t bother with any more. Luckily I know she can do much better.
