Belle_Lioncourt (USA: NM) (2008/02/06): The book was great and everything this review say's except Marius doesn't creat Lestat Magnus does. That mistake is common of people who only watched the movie The Queen of The Damned. It's understandable. ceecee (USA: CA) (2013/10/14): This book was a great read. I love all of Anne Rice books. Her character detail is second to none. If you love Anne Rice you'll love this book. Cindy W (Canada) (2014/01/04): In the first book of Anne Rice's New Tales of the Vampires, she looks back on the life of one of the original vampires, Pandora. As Pandora writes her own story, she goes back to her childhood in ancient Rome before she was a vampire, through the massacre of her family, and how she escaped to the port of Antioch (in what is now Turkey) and her life there.
Mostly, I liked this. I got a bit bored with the vampire parts, though. Mostly I preferred Pandora's life story, and luckily that was the majority of the book. I do plan to continue with the next in the series, Vittorio the Vampire.
