♥princessjulia♥ (USA: DE) (2008/10/03): This wasn't life changing for me as I've heard so many people claim but it is a pretty good book. A fast read that does get you thinking, I have to admit that most of the parts of the story really will make you take stock of what you believe and what if you're wrong. I don't think it deserves the praise that I've heard everyone singing but I am very glad I read it and do recommend. I suppose my advice is don't expect too much. BrendaV (USA: NC) (2008/12/09): This book is one you must read. It really is a life changing experience. This book made me look at life and death in a very different perspective. I think it should be mandatory for everyone to read this. It really answered a lot of my questions that I had about life, death, heaven, and the afterlife. Great read! Christy J (USA: TN) (2009/02/26): After reading this book, I can now see why it is so controversial. While I don't have the same opinions of it as some, I found the majority of the storyline to be completely relevant to the times we're living in today. There were times when I was reading and I just had to stop for awhile to let what I had just read soak in. What spoke to my heart the most was how much I, as a Christian, pass judgment on other people. It's been several days since I read the chapter that deals with that, and it's still not letting me go.
Two things I didn't care for.... 1) I'll admit that I did a double take when I read that God was a woman, but I understood why the author presented God in that way. And 2) I think it was completely unnecessary for swearing to be included in this book. There wasn't a lot, but it was more than I am comfortable reading when a book is labled as "Christian fiction.” blklacquer (USA: TX) (2011/01/14): I was not expecting to like this book simply because I don't like Christian fiction, but curiousity got the best of me since everybody was raving about how life changing it was..and I needed a change. While I don't consider it life changing I ended up enjoying the book. All of the stuff that people have labled controversial are the things i love! I recommend reading, I've given copies to my fam and friends. I am now reading the Pilgrim's Progress since they have compared The Shack to it! Sam Campanaro (USA: NC) (2017/12/21): Wonderful!
