Wow!! This book was recommended by a friend. At first i was reluctant to read it.....i am so glad i did. This is a book i would read again.

I mooched this book very recently and began reading it straight away. A very moving and powerful story told in sparing prose. As someone who sometimes works with children who are mute for a variety of reasons the story resonated strongly. The realisation by the child that something that began as a choice ... Not to speak.. had morphed into an inability to speak really heightened my compassion around this disability. Mutism has many forms and origins only some of which can be resolved but this story definitely is a very positive contribution to the understanding of and empathy with families affected by it.
