Judith Denning (United Kingdom) (2008/03/09): This is one of those rare books which combines accuracy and wit.It is easy to read and as an English woman, I found it to be hilariously perceptive on the way the English behave which is sometimes a complete mystery to the non-English. It is a serious book with no cheap laughs for the sake of it. I found it useful both as a history of how we English came to behave in certain scenarios and also as a light-hearted examination of what makes us peculiarly English.
