Quite different from the usual H.G. Wells books, it shows Mr Polly or how anyone else might have lived our lives... blundering through with things happened to us, instead of what we planned from the very beginning. Able to laugh at the antics of Polly kindly because he is really a reflection of ourselves, how helpless we really are in the face of events or circumstances pushing us along the path of life.
