Reviews: Ashley (USA: CA) (2007/10/27):
This book was very well written. It kept me on the edge of my chair at all times. It was very suspenseful. I especially liked the back and forth formal of Alice's writing. Kind of a yin/yang thing going on. I would definitely recommend this book.

Carly (USA: NV) (2007/11/11):
A near-perfect novel. It's fabulous.

Courtney (USA: TX) (2007/12/13):
It made me cry, but it was an amazing read.

Afromom (USA: MD) (2008/01/14):
I wasn't particularly thrilled with the way this novel reads. It was tediously explicit at times and very slow to start. Alice Sebold has the tendency to be needlessly verbose. For me, a story's fragrance is much stronger when allowed to linger in small drifts at a time. Around mid-book, it just became an exhausting read. I continued only out of curiosity.

I first picked this book up in a library, read the first few chapters, and had to have it, so I immediately bought a copy of my own. But by the time I really started to indulge, it began to disappoint. All-in-all, it was okay, but I don't think I could read it again. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wasn't curious, patient, and/or completely passionate about reading.

Although, I am anxious and quite curious to see the novel through the perspective of Peter Jackson when the film is released.

KrystalDoo (USA: KS) (2008/02/08):
Loved this book. Very interesting and different. Only getting rid of it because I don't really think I will reread it. Main character is a young girl who has been murdered and is watching her family from heaven. You should read this at least once.

Amy (USA: IN) (2008/04/07):
I loved this book!! I think what I loved most was the perspective it was written from. I hope she writes many more books.

♥princessjulia♥ (USA: DE) (2008/06/15):
I agree that the perspective it's written is one of the best things about this book. I almost kept my copy for myself. I'd most definitely recommend it and already have. I'm waiting for two of her other books right now and am excited!

Nikki M (USA: CA) (2008/07/04):

Lizzie and Tasha (United Kingdom) (2008/07/16):
A book you should read at least once, not amazingly written but a lovely storyline and ending.

Erin (USA: FL) (2008/10/05):
Wonderful, touching story- unique voice- easy to read-

eva (USA: KS) (2008/10/29):
One of my very favorite books, and what I would like to think the afterlife is truly like.

Tammy (USA: CA) (2010/01/29):
This was a really good book, I was crying through the first 4 chapters. A real tear jerker. Now I'm on my way to the theater to watch the movie.

Rebecca N. McKinnon (USA: FL) (2010/08/17):
This is one of my favorite books of all time. I'm only giving away this copy because I bought one that was in better condition. I guarantee this will be one of the most unique story lines you've ever immersed yourself into, one difficult to emerge from. It makes you question your own beliefs about afterlife, family, and love. You will be pleasantly surprised by how quickly you connect and defend a dead girl's actions. And if you have any experience with death, you'll find yourself reflecting on your own passed loved ones. By the end of the book, you'll feel lifted up and understood.

Lis (USA: GA) (2011/03/17):
ummm, depressing. Book was a decent read. I enjoyed it once I read past the moment the man took her. I hate hate hated that part. The rest I enjoyed.

Elizabeth (USA: FL) (2011/06/10):
I loved this book. It's an emotional roller coaster, so if you're not into that kind of book, i don't recommend it.
