Hasmita (India) (2007/11/05): I read this book after Secret Life of Bees, so there is always a comparison between the author's two books - I definitely liked Secret Life of Bees better. Mermaid Chair was nice, but didn't immerse me in the tale like the other one did. Quite a lot of it was cliche and then it sort of broke the cliches towards the end, but it still felt weakish to me. I think this was better than The Secret Life of Bees!So readable, so moving and just wow! The characters were believable, even the fictional environment and legends were believable! Loved it! Would read another Sue Monk Kidd anytime and would recommend either!
