WelshHelen (United Kingdom) (2011/01/12): This is my first Hornby book and it seems that I've picked his weakest. The blurb on the front says "Hilarious" well, to be honest, I found the book sad rather than funny. Maybe it's because a man was writing about a woman who seemed to become more and more a doormat as the book went on. Katie just seemed to lose herself as her husband's plans became less and less realistic and her home was taken over by strangers, the next more eccentric than the last.
Very disappointing, very unsatisfying but I'm being generous giving it a 3 out of 10 as it *was* well written.
