A high-school English teacher, David Marks drives a taxi at night to take his mind off the hit-and-run death of his young wife. One evening a beautiful girl offers him eighty dollars to drive her to Stamford, Connecticut, and back, on condition that the trip remain a secret. He accepts, only to see the girl disappear into the dark grounds of a large estate near Stamford, remain there an hour, and then return--without explanation. So begins a series of bizarre--and fatal--events that leads David Marks to the man he recognizes as his wife's killer!
