samharnold (United Kingdom) (2014/01/01): This is one of those books I can't say I enjoyed but I had to read and now I have finished I am glad I did read it. There are parts where you just plain want to scream at the main characters. I always find it hard to read a book where you relate to none of the characters and this may have been one of the reasons I struggled with it. The Wheelers are awful people and apart from the children have no positive character aspects at all. I felt half way through the book that I recognised the story and somewhere I think I may have watched the film. As I was not completely sure it obviously means the film was as memorable as the book.
