Selene (Netherlands) (2007/02/01): I saw the movie one month before I read the book. It's rather different, for example that plot points take place in other situations, it's more extensive, Ella can 'hold off' the order for a few moments but this causes dizziness (for example) but eventually she has to comply to the order, and Lucinda's character is a bit different as well. I liked reading the book, it was enjoyable and fast-reading. Also, no typing/spelling errors in this edition, which was nice after reading a few books where I did see those. In the back of the book there are 'extras', including word lists of Abdegi, Gnomic, Ogrese, Elfian, and Ayorthaian. There are sentences in these languages written in the story itself (with translations, of course), which is something else not really present in the movie and something I liked [because I like languages...]. There also was an extra chapter at the end which had not been included in the final story version. The 'Cinderella' element of this story was more present in the book than in the movie, for example the pumpkin and mice when Ella goes to the ball.
The Compulsive Reader (USA: MI) (2007/04/24): This book is a good, fun read for readers of any age, no matter what the publisher's age reccomendation is.
Cindy (Canada) (2007/10/20): i love this book. i've seen the movie and i've got to say the book is definetly better than the movie. i have read this book at least 15 times. if it's available mooch it and you'll be glad you did.
dina (USA: MA) (2008/02/05): good book cover is different
