Reviews: -alice- (Mexico) (2009/11/02):
I'll get this out of the way now. Neil Gaiman is just plain genius.

I loved this book. I hope you'll be one of the lucky people who will get to read it. The story is wonderful and the characters are rich and complex. And each has a unique voice.

***maybe spoilers***

Bod, short for Nobody, is orphaned at a very young age when his whole family is killed by a man named Jack. He is then adopted by a couple of Ghosts who "live" in a graveyard. This particular graveyard is the final resting place for a myriad of quite interesting characters, many of whom teach Bod various lessons that will come in handy along the way.

The man named Jack, who failed to kill him as a toddler, still looks for him through the years. Will he eventually find him and finish the job? You will have to read to find out.

One more thing, there's a wonderful chapter named Danse Macabre. It is probably one of the best thing I have read in my life. If you can, buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

Heather Rose (USA: PA) (2011/10/10):
I read... a lot... and to add something (nothing new) to alice's review is not meant to take away her feelings, rather to add an additional mention to her review of the chapter entitled Danse Macabre. Being a fan already of Gaiman plays no part in this review, but it does add a little something to know that a great author is able to pen such beauty. And it is beauty. Danse Macabre may be the most heart wrenching, soul searching, breath takingly exquisite chapter of a novel I've read. Ever. It's beauty brought me to tears. On several occurrences. Of course, this is only my opinion (and alice's...) and outcome of these thoughts, but if you choose to read the novel; then I hope you too find it as wondrous as we did.
