re: A bit slow

Good catch, John - thank you! I wondered why I was having trouble today. It's much better in the last 15 minutes or so.

re: Not loving Amazon

I look at the BookMooch recently posted page every day. Since Amazon threw us out, there are always several entries there that show the poster's country and sometimes nothing more. I tried clicking on the link to the poster's home page, next to their name, from which I can see their inventory, but if they have more than a hundred books listed, it's annoying and time-consuming to go through all of those to try and figure out which one the missing book information belongs to. Has anyone figured out a way to find out at least the titles and authors of these books?

re: Not loving Amazon

Hello John -

I don't know about other BookMooch members, but I'm ordering a lot fewer books from Amazon since they cut us off. Your excellent feature of having the lowest Amazon price appear on our wish lists right on the title/author line was a great temptation that they've now removed. Would it be any use to point this out to Amazon? I'd be happy to contact them about it, if I knew how to send an email there that would go to someone who might understand it.

Thanks for BookMooch; I don't know how I'd do without it.

re: Amazon search problems

Thanks for letting us know, John. I hope Amazon comes to its senses and restores BookMooch to its USA Amazon connection. I do order a lot of books from my BookMooch wish list that way, and I'm certainly not ordering from Amazon.uk, as their shipping charges were ridiculously high, the one time I ordered anything through them; I believe it was a shipping charge of at least $10 for a $5.00 book. Is there anything BookMooch members can do in the way of contacting Amazon to point out to them the business they're missing by cutting us off this way?

re: RSSOwl in Italy causing BM to crash

PaperBackSwap also now charges many little finicking charges plus a membership fee, announced last February in a deceitful manner. That site has had more slowdowns and crashes since then than BookMooch ever has - so not very 'professional' at all. If BookMooch should choose that route, I'm outta here., as I'm happy with BM as it is.

re: Doom & gloom?

Brittany -
I just searched on the PBS site and can't find any reference to getting a PBS credit for buying a book via Amazon. Please could you tell me where you found that?
Thanks.

re: Doom & gloom?

Hello John - Thanks for all your work in creating BookMooch and continuing to tweak various features, though not to excess. I'm so pleased that there's another free book-swap site besides PBS, from which I got suspended for almost a year because my computer software, although it worked with Amazon, BookFinder, and other giant sites, would no longer work on PBS after one of their updates, so i couldn't mark books received. I complained and got suspended with a snarky message about how it was my job to keep up with their changes. Foo! So place don't make BookMooch all New and Improved with lots of moving parts and stuff for sale.

Suggestions (Well, you did ask):
Please could the link that brings us the lowest current Amazon price next to our wish-list books be updated more often? Sometimes it doesn't get updated for several weeks, and I really appreciate the opportunity to pounce on some suddenly low-priced copy of a book that I'll probably never get through PBS or BookMooch.

Would it be possible for the View Moochables Now button on the wish list to bring up related editions currently available, as well as moochables that are actually the book we have listed? Sometimes I'm not so fussy about which edition I'll read.

I'd be happy if the link on feedback could be broken or readjusted for books that never arrived, so I wouldn't later find that I'd left positive remarks (my comment on the previous book received) for books I never got. The informative people in the forums told me a way to correct this, ex post facto, but it hasn't worked on all of them.

re: Bookmarks available in USA and UK

Our library has a small bookstore, run by the Friends of the Library to raise money to buy more books for the library. I was wondering about getting a stack of bookmarks to leave on the checkout desk in that store. They'd certainly be exposed to a well-targeted audience - people who are already looking for books and would rather not pay full price, who might recycle some of their books on BM.

re: Scifi story that birthed BookMooch

What a great origin-story! It makes me feel even more inclined toward BookMooch participation.
Thank you.

If only the Opt Out actually worked...
For me, it doesn't.
