Feature requests : new features you'd like to see at BookMooch

re: Children's books vs. all others

You could always look for someone who's offering a deal in the forums for kids' books, or ask someone with a big inventory if they'd be interested in doing a deal - 2 for 1 or 3 for 2, etc.

re: a couple little things

I would totally be on board with the occasional email requiring inactive users to confirm their continued interest, or log into the site. As you say, the request/wait/vacation someone else process is a bit clunky and not obvious to new people. For some reason, John seems insistent in his blog postings that that's the only way to go.

On a side note, Cara, I don't believe there are any negative consequences to having a few cancellations on one's record, especially if you leave feedback indicating why you canceled.

re: Allow Mooching for All countries on your Continent?

I, too, would love to see this added as a feature, although there would have to be a lot of variations to choose from (which is maybe why it hasn't been implemented yet).

I essentially do what you describe by having my account set to 'ask first', then listing in my profile and status that I can send within the Americas only due to postage costs, and that I am happy to hold books for angel moochers for those in Europe, Asia, etc. I know that others do something very similar - they require two books for international or overseas mooching, or state that they can only send to the US and Canada, or only within the EU, or what-have-you.

re: Vacation hold-

I echo this wish - there are times when I am not out of town and so can mark things as received, but know that I don't have the time to go to the post office to send out mooches. It would be great if we had a way to vacation our inventory without having to be totally 'on vacation'.

There have been times in the past when I've gone off the vacation setting very briefly (minutes) to mark something received and gotten new requests that I've had to either reject or delay.
