re: Doom & gloom?

I really appreciate Bookmooch. I've used it to clear out my old library. While I haven't really brought new books in (I, too, have a preference for ebooks as of late), I still occasionally find a wishlisted book I really want.

Have you given much thought to diversification? I have very often wished Bookmooch had a video games section. I've had and still have several accounts with video game swap sites and they are all TERRIBLE! None of them are as good or as fair as Bookmooch.

I also have a decadently large classic music on LP collection I wouldn't mind swapping. Again, haven't found a service as good as bookmooch for these, though.

re: Wishlist griping

This is a problem on all swapping sites. I participate in Goozex, a video game swapping site also (not as good as BM, by the way. I wish there was a BM for video games) and it is the same story. If you want the latest and greatest, prepare to wait. If you want something that was great a couple of years ago, chances are you can have it today. Considering most everything new costs more than something used, that is to be expected.

re: Not much junk on BM

One person's junk is another person's treasure. Not sure I like the idea of any books being considered "junk."

I've used BM to literally replace a good 2/3 of my personal library with what I thought were "junk" books with books I now hold with value. Yet, a very large portion of the books I put up were mooched within seven days.

I've done a fair bit of browsing on BM to see what is available and I have yet to find a junk book.

re: End of +.1 for leaving feedback

Thank you for this, John. I never understood that aspect of BM. I always thought it was just common courtesy to leave fair and honest feedback for a fellow BM citizen who went through the process of giving someone else such a generous gift as a book. Bribery need not be necessary.

re: Idea: an hour of me

Might be intriguing. I am an insurance broker that specializes in health care for retirees and the disabled. I spend a good deal of my day looking over insurance contracts for individuals. It is more-or-less free work for me anyway, so this might go handily with it. Might be interesting to trade something I already do in exchange for a point for a service I might need later.
