Look out for the give-away "related" tag. Bookmooch relies on Amazon listings. As an Amazon seller I know how poor those sometimes are. Large sellers are allowed to make listings not already in the Amazon database. Many make a new listing just so that people will not compare their price with another seller where the prices are lower than they wish to set. Others misspell words or put in incorrect ISBN. I am not sure if there is a button to choose NOT to have related books. If there is it will bepart of a menu at the top of the wishlist page (right corner in mine).
I have noticed that if you get a title or author wrong - even by one punctuation mark or one letter - the book may not show up. I find searching on Bookmooch easier than on Amazon, but sometimes neither find a book but Goodreads does. It is down to the search engines used. Worth trying Google or altavista too if you get stuck.
In that situation talk to the moocher. Suggest the moocher marks it as lost so you keep your point and they get their point back. Then add it to your inventory again and they can re-request it. That way you get another point for sending.
Selling points to other Bookmoochers would likely make the recipient fall foul of the mooch ratio. Now that requests and given books at home cost/reward with one point and abroad 3 points, the margin for using extra points is much smaller than formerly. One can give smooch points or donate points to charity (which includes individual members) but one may in fact being doing a disservice if the person is close to their 2:1 ratio allowed. Charities are allowed to receive and use points without regard to mooch ratio, but individual moochers are not.
