Status message: I'm having a little trouble just getting any transactions to go through, at all. Is it just me or is there a lot of "wood" on BookMooch? For that reason, I'm going to be keeping my Inventory pretty light, until I can get a bead on how many books I can reasonably expect to get back for the amount I have shared. I'll be honest, when I started with this site, I was very excited. Probably too excited, when I think of it. I didn't think twice about international shipping or postal weights. I didn't believe in "point bloat." I racked up a good number of points, trying to be ready for the time when everything on my Wishlist might suddenly appear at once. Now, it's very hit and miss. Maybe I'm not alone in my attitude towards BookMooch but I'm trying to fight my way out of the doldrums, for no other reason than having about $1000 of "point equity" from shipping fees tied up in this site. I hope things turn around, soon. Bio: I like books. Like, a giant bunch a lot. I list using ISBN whenever possible. I hand-enter all details regarding book condition on every item except magazines. Generally, I'll give a book a "good" if I can still see my reflection on the cover and the spine is sturdy-looking. A book listed as "fair" will have scratches, creases, and scuffs but doesn't appear to be in immediate danger of disintegrating. I reserve "poor" for those unfortunates. The few "very goods" I have at any time are paragons of the art of codification, suitable for reading and/or breeding stock. Most of my books are in "fair" to "good" range, according to my standards. Sometimes, I will hold on to a "poor" copy if I think it is still readable/lovable but please understand that they usually are pretty near the end of their shelf-lives. I hope no one takes offense but I am choosing not to send books to users "on_vacation." I will accept them, if the Moocher seems legit, but I will continually delay in sending them until I see that they have come back. I feel like I have wasted time, energy, money, and, most importantly, books on members who have effectively abandoned the site and left me hanging. You may personally intend to return but I can't be sure until I see that an account is once again active. My wife and I share this account but I handle all the feedback and mailings. We have two cats but we did have a dog for a while, as well. I do, however, get books from many sources and cannot speak for their environmental quality. Some are probably pristine, others much less so. If you think you might have issues with my books, email me and I'll be honest about each one. I reuse the envelopes I get from other moochers, as well as those containers I find in recycling bins at the post office. Duct tape is my weapon of choice. When you get packages from me, they will probably look like boobytraps but I assure you, they are mostly safe.
