Status message:
I HAVE A HUUUUGE TBR LIST AT THE MOMENT SO AM HOLDING OFF ON EXCHANGING BOOKS FOR A LITTLE WHILE. GOING ON "VACATION" FOR A BIT, ACCORDINGLY.

Non-smoking, non-perfume-using home. Books may have pet dander, as I have birds now and have had cats in the past.

International folks: For my budget's sake, unless you are mooching a very thin paperback, please mooch at least 2 books. I have "ask" instead of "will send worldwide" mainly so that I know you are aware of this two-book minimum.

Bio:
When I mooch books, it's usually for the content not the looks, but I still look for condition notes. If I don't see them, I'll want to know that 1) the book doesn't smell of smoke or perfume (etc.); 2) there is no underlining or highlighting of the text; and 3) they are not mildewed or otherwise badly water-damaged.

I also mooch indie and/or academic books involving DIY, punk, hardcore, ska, activism, etc., for my local non-profit punk club. If you have an item that you think might fit the bill, please let me know!

One more thing: there is IME a huge failure rate on books wrapped just in paper. These packages rarely arrive intact and the books often sustain some damage. A tight plastic layer - recycled grocery bag, etc. - is really essential to keep books safe from postal machines, weather, and whatever else the USPS throws at media mail.

Thanks!

A random selection from my inventory

My inventory is quite small at the moment due to a combination of tight finances and having an enormous TBR pile

I haven't had a problem yet, but just in case one of my packages to you arrives in unsatisfactory condition - or even if you just have some pointers - please email me about it. I *want* to know if the packaging didn't hold up or if something about the mooch was unsatisfactory to you. You might not want to put something in the transaction comments (I've been there) but would feel better for mentioning it: Please do!

I rate the condition of books as follows (and I try to be thorough in reporting faults):

  • Mint - like new

  • Very Good - used, but with very few signs of use

  • Good - Typical used book quality, like you'd find on the shelf in a bookshop. Any anomalies noted, of course. Most of my books fall into this category

  • Reading Copy - Not pretty but servicable. Defects - of which there will be some - noted.

  • Freebie - Cover missing, stained (but not musty), or barely holding together, these books will occasionally be on offer as an extra. I'll list them here, as well as in my inventory; if you see one you like, mooch it along with a non-freebie and I'll charity back your point(s).
