Status message:
I am not really "going on vacation". Not the fun kind. We have illness in the family, and I am going to have to put everything else on hold for now. I am hoping that all will turn out well and we'll be back on here soon chatting with our friends and talking books. In the meantime we need your good wishes for health and well-being.

Old, but still "tarp as a shack!"

I've always lived here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and I've always loved it here. I've lived through 1 category 4 hurricane and 2 category 5s. There's no way to describe Katrina except maybe to compare it to a tsunami. Our home was on the beach and it had been there for 91 years. Now there's nothing there but our Katrina cottage. It's filled with love, though. I love my old husband of 41 years, our 5 grandchildren, my cat, my flower garden, and READING!
