Update:

October 2009

Still in the Northwest. Still in therapy.

Reading lots.

Playing some casual computer games.

Lifting weights with teacher.

Cooking many organic vegetables.

Getting a new car through Costco was cheaper than getting a used car.

Update:

September 2008.

I am on LibraryThing as chavaevy. You can look there for me and my 600 books, so far, not even halfway through.

Best,

Evy

August 2008.

My twenty year old car burned. Fire department. Mechanic says it is unfixable. It looks it, too.

I am keeping my commitments to those I have promised to mail internationally. I won't be able to send internationally for a while.

My insurance covered $0.00 of my loss.

Sorry that I have to back off mailing outside the country.. I must, however.

OK, folks,

I am coming out of the closet. Among other things, I am an astrologer. At once time, I tried to price myself out of the market and failed. I finally made up my mind to only do charts for love or barter.

I only do charts in person or on the phone. Typing up what I have to say would cut into my reading time and drive me crazy.

I no longer teach astrology since there are FINALLY so many good sites that will do the math on line. My students used to wail at having to do the math, though I made it as easy as was possible for them then.

Other things about me. I learned astrology because I have a natal chart from hell. Astrologers have been known to turn pale when I ask them what they have to say to me about my chart.

My life unfortunately matched my chart. One of the reasons I became a self described book-junkie was that in my horrific childhood one of the only things I was ever praised for was reading and doing well in school. It was also one of the few things I was allowed to do. Sewing, which I don't do anymore, and cooking, which I am about to start on when I finish this bio were two others.

I have huge numbers of self help books which I am nowhere near ready to let go of. Louise Hay is my latest best-loved self-help author. I have been in therapy for thirty YEARS and needed every minute of it. Still do.

Anyone who is an AMAC can write to me for book recommendations.

If you don't know what an AMAC is, you probably aren't one. And good for you!

I have hitchhiked with a friend through northern Europe, long ago.

I have lived a variety of places including London and the very north of Scotland.

I have been married and divorced three times.

I can tell you about many libraries in most of the places where I have lived.

I practiced aikido for five years and may face horrible traffic to start again at sixty.

I practice t'ai chi, Pilates and yoga.

I was for twenty years a financial aid administrator at a graduate research institution, which was a land grant institution. This may mean something to some of you.

This means I taught myself to use computers, both mainframe and personal, though I no longer have access to a mainframe. Also, I can read US Federal regulations without falling asleep. And I have seen face to face or heard ear to the telephone thousands of students and their families. I tried to count one year's people contacts. I was appalled.

It was definitely a mind expanding adventure. Don't get me started.

I have luckily been out of the business about ten years. It was a blessing because I did not have to check out Reservists for the latest Middle East war. I did for Desert Storm but we got those back, mostly.

I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. I went to college at the University of Missouri at Columbia, majoring in English and accidentally minoring in French conversation and psychology.

I live in the Northwest now, compliments of astrology. Live by the sword. Die by the sword.

An astrolocartographer told me that my chart might be slightly less painful if I moved here. After my last divorce, I moved here knowing no one. It has been an adventure, which is still being adventurous.

I never go anywhere without a book.

I no longer set foot in bookstores. Amazon is still my downfall. I check out books I've never heard of in people's inventories there. Does anyone else do that?

I also buy certain books if I can't stand to wait any longer for wishlisted book to appear.

I am the daughter of a woman who had to support her family during the depression. Her dad died just before she graduated from high school.

This means I also freecycle. I was raised not to waste things and to look for bargains. Bookmooch is indeed a bargain as well as a lovable community.

Some of the older books that are in or have been in my inventory come from other freecycleers that I went to before gas got so expensive.

I have a one bedroom apartment and eleven bookshelves, some eight feet tall. I have a step stool for the top shelves.

I can see mountains when the cloud cover is light from my balcony.

I love fantasy and vampire novels in a very picky way. I love fantasy novels. I love cookbooks. I read a fair amount of non-fiction from the library. I read lots of novels as well.

I read fast.

This is a lot. You may now know me better than some of your best friends.

Bookmooch is a huge blessing in my life as are all of you.

Blessings to all and sundry.

Evy

I reread books when I am feeling down.
