Status message:
While I am working on adding to condition of all my books, please remember the following for books without a published condition.

My books come from a variety of sources including book stores, used book stores, yard sales, auctions, gifts & donations.

They could be in any condition from excellent/new to poor. All books are readable and none are missing any pages however covers may be torn & tattered. There may be some writing or book store stamps on/in covers and on pages not affecting the readability. Pages may be yellowed and while we are non-smokers, the previous owners of some books may have been smokers.

If you're concerned with the state of a book, please send me a message and I will indicate the condition and a few pictures.

I ask, though not require, that you mooch more than one book from me when you request a large or heavy book. That way I can ship them all together as a parcel and save on shipping.

I may reject mooches outside of Canada/USA if it's a large/heavy/hardcover book if I feel the postage would be more than the book is worth locally.

Dominic's Cheap Canada Post Shipping Guide!

If you're in Canada, you've no doubt noticed that shipping domestically using Parcel Post is much more expensive than shipping internationally with 3rd Class Ground Post.

I've found a solution, while it bends the rules a bit, I've never had a problem nor had a book returned for insufficient postage.

Oversized Lettermail will not be offered to you at the post office because of package thickness, however if you ship in an envelope (I use #0 padded) you should be able to use this service. You can purchase metered postage at the post office to save from using tons of stamps, what you will need to know is the weight, the origin and destination postal codes. Ask the person working at the post counter for metered postage for oversized lettermail for (weight) grams and give them the postal codes. They should give you a printed sticker to put on your package, stick it on and drop it in a mailbox! :o)
Most books are in the 300g-399g range which cost $3.25 in postage (+tax, $3.67 in 13% HST provinces). Info at: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/personal/productsservices/send/lettersdocuments.jsf#Rates

A quick note regarding international shipments. If you use Canada Post Ship-in-a-Click or a similar service in another country, you may be interested to know you can get free half sheet stickers to print your shipping labels. All you have to do is create a free FedEx account and request free Electronic Shipping Labels from their website. It is much simpler than printing, cutting and taping a sheet to the package.
