Bio:
Hello there! I'm a long-time bookmoocher.
I love books, traveling, and technology.

I like all types of literature and my tastes are a bit eclectic. For my "commute reads" I usually get thriller, horror, mystery, or SciFi paperbacks, and those make up most of my Mooch listings. I'm a sucker for the household names, King, Grisham, Crichton; I love *good* SciFi (Douglas Adams, Frank Herbert), and I also love classic reads like Wilde, Poe, and so on, (but those I tend to keep). I also like some comics and graphic novels.

RATINGS

As for my reviews, my ratings system is personal and arbitrary, so here's the lowdown:

WOW - This rating is for a book that was surprising, thrilling, well-executed, and overall, moving. Its the sort of book I keep, or I pass on to a personal friend and pester them until they read it. Few books get this rating. Examples of books that have gotten a WOW rating include Dune, Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children Series, and recently (and suprisingly) PJ Parrish's A Thosand Bones.

SWELL - This rating applies to books that I really liked, but, you know, if the world were ending I wouldn't throw them in the "Time Capsule" safety box. They are still worthwhile reads, fun times, and worth buying. The latest book to get this rating was Chuck Klostermman's Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs.

MEH - These are books that I was not impressed with, but they are not bad. They are 'aight books when the alternative is 4 hours of train/plane/transit ride bored out of my mind. The majority of the books here are mass-market thriller paperbacks that make me wish I had remembered to charge my iPod before hopping onto the train, again.

BLEH - This rating applies to books that are bad. Really bad. So bad that I was angry at myself for wasting the time it took to read them, the paper it took to make them, the ink it took to print them, and the money some idiot paid another idiot to write rubbish like this. Bear in mind, I'm not a critic or a frou-frou literati, I am pretty forgiving, even with bad books, because I happen to know that writing is HARD. Thus, I use this rating very, very sparsely. So far, the only book to earn this honor has been The Da Vinci Code, which earned an unprecedented Double Bleh.
