Bio: I like to think outside the box. I read a lot and rarely watch television, though I'd happily join someone in watching a good movie. I grew up in a counter-culture of artists in the Monterey Peninsula of California, but now consider myself a Canadian. I would not change my unconventional childhood for anything in the world. The culture of eccentric, artistic, intellectual bohemians, rich with creative inspiration and community was a wonderful world in which to grow up. I've written and illustrated a few children's books and currently illustrate curricula. I love books --I feel they make a house feel comfortable and interesting. I don't think there is a room in my house that is entirely without books --in fact, most rooms have large, overflowing bookcases. --and this is after I've been rather ruthless about clearing out! I have a beloved collection of children's books. I love working with children, and recently started an educational enrichment centre for homeschoolers. The ability to see the absurd in life is important to me. --this means having the ability to relax and make the most of potentially stressful moments --like traffic jams or dealing with life's frequent little glitches. That's life --and meanwhile, we can take those moments for laughter and a chat! (or to grab a book and read a few more chapters!) |
